Yes that's what I'm thinking. A southdown snorkel combined with something to cool the filter would help recover some performance lost to the heat and humidity of South Florida or West Texas.

I looked at pricing for the part. It runs @ 500.

seems just buying a Southdown etc would be a better way

Yep. I think it had the record for hottest temperature recorded on earth a few years back, may still hold it but I haven't checked. Even Africa wasn't as hot.

FYI, I got my hands on one of these, well at least the large plastic rectangular tube anyway. It seems they no longer make the part that connects it to the fender/airbox intake (looks like an oval piece in the diagram).

If any of you are industrious enough and want to take on some fabrication, I'm going to put it up for sale. I'd do $100 plus shipping. It's a brand new part.

Likely would have a bigger impact at low speeds. On my recent trip down and back to GA I frequently saw 98-100 on the outside air temp and intake air temp was within 1 degree at highway speeds.
