Like the idea if you can do it well, good luck. Did you ever pull the weatherstripping off the sides of the engine compartment? I found that works well for reducing underhood temps.

Default Hummer H3 Billet Hood Vent Panel New In Box

This looks like a good install...since it screws on top and sticks up. I would powder coat it matte black. And it is metal...no plastic cheap stuff.
Why not turn it around so it rams air in your engine compartment? Does anyone think it would make a bunch of wind noise? I already have the hood blackout? $200 is a a bit pricey though.

03discoman here is one with no sides to fill up with mesh.

I mean seriously? Soccer mom needs 6.2L's of gas guzzling Republican oil embedded power?
The 454 cid is 6.6L, so that has to be what, around 400 cid?
No wonder GM went bankrupt.
Everything Hummer but the H1 for the military is absolutely ridiculous and a huge waste of space.

I do not like the vent.
The 454 is 7.4L. 6.6L is a 400cid. 6.2L would be somewhere in the 372cid area.

But the 350 is 5.7 liters, so how can a 6.2 be smaller than 5.7 in cid?

there are probably better solutions to lower under hood temps.
wrapping the exhaust manifold would probably lower temps just as much as a hood vent.
the Humvees were designed to use that type of hood as a compliment to radiator and cooling setup specific to that vehicle. kinda of like the saudi grill wont lower temps to much by itself but its the actual system that improves airflow.

Default Universal hood/side engine bay vents

I don't have any issues, just bought a really nice and clean 99 disco II. I've been doing my research since the beginning of time on these things (big brother had a LE RR) So I've decided to check into avoiding the head gasket failure issue. Jeep off roaders do it. After all, if you look into any of LR's history, you'll find out they're actually jeeps. Found this to be one of the better alternatives to cooling the whole engine bay. Also good for on/off roaders, and not badly priced either. Going to get some for my Disco II and paint them the color of the truck. Well, enough said here is the link.
