Default Had it up to here with getting cold water poured down my back in the morning!

"DIE SUNROOF, DIE!!!"

That's what I was shouting as I pulled out of my driveway headed to work this morning... Oh, well...At least scrubs dry quickly. Lol!

Come rolling down the driveway and mash the brakes when I get to the street and WOOSH! Followed by lots of loud cursing and me trying to climb up on the dashboard in a panic... Ok... Maybe it's not actually a WOOSH, but any water is too much water when your headed to work... and it's cold too...

While I had my headliner out I check all my drain hoses and every one of them was in great shape and I have ran a bead of black silicone around my sunroof cases which have not helped. I think I'm done with sunroofs...I never use them anyway, So I am going to pull the fuse and go the local graphics guy's place and just have him cover them up completely with large black stickers since my truck is black. If I keep showing up at work with wet scrubs on, I'll know it's probably the roof rack mounts and appologize to my sunroofs...

Opinions?

.

so I guess you are not a pediatrician.

my bet is that it is the sunroof not the rack. unless you went dolomite with the mounts.
interested to see if the graphic thing, works.

I am not a Pediatrician, Dusty. LOL! I am a Wound Care Nurse. Too much time spent under this rig to finish Medicine School. LOL!

I doubt it is the rack mounts either... Ive never carried anything at all on them.

I wouldn't go as far as to say ever having a load on them could cause the issue. The "gasket" on them.. is a crappy compressed foam pad. At least that's what mine was.

i use my sunroof, but I always want someone to try that leak stop stuff on them.

comes in clear, black, or white.
we used it on an interior channel 12x12x16" rotted gutter. it was rusted/corroded and leaking horribly bad. plenty of quarter sized holes. we used a few cans on it and it has not leaked in the past 6 months.

So if you pour water into the tray can you see water actually going down the drains?

Explain what Id need to do and where to look for this. Ive tried to see the drain holes in the past but have never been able to see them.. When I had my headliner getting replaced i checked them all to see if any were broken off like so many people have seen, but all of mine were fine.

Many sunroof leaks aren't from broken or damaged drain tubes but ingress under the upper roof frame. It's a fault with nearly all Discos and RR's. The mastic hardens after a few years and the roof shell flexes and bingo you have a private/public douche. Pity you never stripped out the sunroof and resealed it when you had the headliner out as you were 75% on the way there. You also need to ensure the drain tubes actually drain the water down and aren't blocked.

Guess what I 'didn't' have on my RRS....................you got it............a sunroof as they are just another PITA on LR's.

To be honest I cannot see the point or need for a sunroof if you have A/C unless the need to leave a dog in the truck or even the kids.
