Default Harbor Freight Badlands 12K Winch Sale again

Harbor Freight just started the sale again on their 12K Badlands winch for $299. The wireless control unit is also on sale for $32 from $59.99:

12000 lb. Off-Road Vehicle Winch with Cable Tensioner

This is a great deal and I went ahead and got one tonight. I do the occasional light/medium duty off-roading. Just thought I pass the word around.

the remote? it is h20 resistant. I have done extensive testing ( as in I left it sitting in winch tray overnight in rain storm)

I have a Harbor Freight hydraulic press at home... one of the worst made tools I have ever seen. It's supposed to be rated for 12 tons - luckily I only use it for bearings and bushings.

Nothing could persuade me to buy anything from them again that is safety-critical...

it is not a sealed unit.but mine has held up well. has worked under water just fine. I once had to dig up part of the colorado river to get to it, to engage, and it got me out. I have 2 of them (front and rear). they are as slow as any other low to mid range winch, but work. only issue I have had is the cheap/flimsy solenoid box (prolly my fault, for where I put it). I went ghetto fab on it and no longer an issue. I have had it apart for inspection, recently, and no signs of corrosion/moisture.
