Cool Has anybody had problems with the Atlanic British Booster Servo?

Brake Servo Assembly (Genuine Part # SJG500030) - Land Rover hydraulics from Atlantic British

Just received my second booster from AB and still does not fit in the bulkhead of my 2004 D2. The bolts on the back side of the booster do not line up with the holes intended, you can get one bolt in but the other bolt is way off. Also noted that the booster offered by AB is alot thinner than the original booster that I pulled from my Disco. According to AB their booster is a genuine part, coming straight from Land Rover, however their part number does not match the number on my booster.

The label on my booster reads: TRW with the Land Rover logo in the middle of the sticker, SJB000171 is the part number on it.

The AB booster is listed as genuine and SJG500030G is their part number.

Has anybody else with the late 03/04 Disco had any problems with boosters from AB? So far the sales rep was no help, now waiting for tech to return my call.....

That is odd, both of those are genuine part numbers for the 03-04 LHD discos... the Genuine would indeed say TRW.

AB sales rep says SJB000171 is no longer in the LR database..... I did a google and found used boosters for 03/04 models with the same number as listed on my booster, so I dont know whats the deal. sigh probably be awhile before I hear back from the tech. Every time Ive ever called hes away from his desk and rarely gets back to me.

also noted that early D2 model boosters looked the same as mine, but had a different part number and were Lucas boosters. So it seems that LR made 3 different boosters with different part numbers for the D2 models. What a bloody mess.

Well I think the 03-04 superseded to the SJB50030, which would make sense.

As tempting as it is to buy a used booster, I expect to be driving my Disco for a very long time, so Id rather buy new and have it last for 100K + before I have to deal with it again. Problem here is apparently between LR and AB. Sucks for me cause the way the sales rep talked, there is nothing they can do for me besides refunding my money which will take afew days at least. RN also has the booster but it cost more than the AB booster plus shipping so Ill be screwed for a couple weeks....... just have to wait until tech dude at AB returns my call and see if they can do anything about this.

I could keep 13 spare boosters for the price of one new one at that price.

Is there a way to rebuild the booster? Are you sure it isn't just the check valve?

two reasons why Im replacing the booster date back several months. Long story sumed up the booster has failed causing a disruption in normal braking system operations, and a leak in the booster has triggered a secondary air check engine code. Already replaced the secondary air reservoir now all thats left is the booster.

AB is having difficult time getting ahold of the original booster that fits my Disco, the slim versions as mentioned above were delivered to AB from at least 2 different LR facilities/dealerships and are labeled as correct fitment to my truck. So AB management is in contact with dealerships to figure out if the boosters were incorrectly labeled for the wrong vehicle. Manager claims that the thicker style booster looks right for the D2, slim one does not look right.

The saga continues and ill be waiting around for afew days until they figure out something sigh.... on the bright side at least i finally got the new crankshaft position sensor and exhaust manifold gasket installed.

I understand you wanting to have a new part to last for miles and miles to come but..... I'm with primus on the $40 route. I'm well over 200k on my original booster in my 99, which to me means they hold up fairly well.

Well enough for me to take a $40 chance if it came to it. Even if you had to buy another used one every year you'll still be big bucks ahead in the long run.

Save that money for door lock actuators or oil pump gears. Now those both are guaranteed not to last another +100k.
