Has anyone tried cutting the leather off a D2 steering wheel, when it wears through?
I have a quarter sized hole in the leather at the top of my 2001 D2 steering wheel. It came to me that way. Wondering if there is a usable vinyl steering wheel under the leather skin.
Anybody sliced/cut the leather off their wheel?

Mine was in rough shape when I bought the truck - no holes but really worn. I decided to re-wrap, even though sometimes this can come out cheesy. Bought a two-tone kit from wheelskins.com, did it myself, and it looks (and feels) great. Better than stock, IMO. I'll send a pic if you'd like.

I also put the "wheelskins" cover on Forrest. It does look much better than what was left of the OEM Leather. I did take the Leather off of a steering wheel in one of my BMWs and it looked like crap.......so that is when I put a "wheelskins" cover on for the first time.
Hope this helps,

Not having seen a reply from Street Wolf,....I decided to go for it and cut my leather cover off......Looked pretty much the same as Steet Wolf's,....Looked better than the worn leather with a hole in it in my opinion, and didnt feel too bad.

thanks for the follw up.. im going to do this when i get home!!!!!!
start by cutting the threads where they stitched the original cover on.....go slowly,......once a section of threads are cut,....you can just grab and pull.....might need pliers to get some of the bits away from where the spokes join the rim of the steering wheel.
