Hayden 2991 Fan clutch worth the switch?
'00 with 10K on an AB long block, truck runs exceptionally well, Extinct inline mod, new belts, hoses, newish LR radiator (6 years old), all coolant system parts new, changed the coolant away from Dexcool, all good. Running 184-195 in combined city/interstate roads. Truck is a daily driver. No overheat problems since the new engine and all new everything.
My question is this: I plan to begin towing a lightweight travel trailer (Airstream Basecamp), weight about 3500 lbs. Wanting to make my cooling system as bulletproof as possible. Is the Hayden 2991 Severe duty fan clutch a good addition? Also, what else might you suggest? I've got a year to sort everything out, as I'm taking a long trip out west (Yellowstone, Grand Tetons) with my son and his family. Want to enjoy the trip w/o having to keep my eyes glued to my ScanGage II worrying about temps.
You guys are great, and I look forward to your thoughts!
Thanks!

If the D2 fan is the same as a P38 fan, you won't have a problem using the 2991. The D1 fan is different and the thing SCREAMS with the 2991 in it.
You could just pack a 36mm fan tool and the extra clutch. It takes 5 min to change.

I use the 2991 with a Dorman fan (620-112) and the OEM 180 t stat. My temps run between 180-190. I recommend the Carrs4X4 T and 4 way connectors as well. My OEM T connector split at the bleed screw and made a mess. Much easier to bleed with the Carrs 4x4 aluminum connector.
