head gasket-pictures of spark plugs
So I thought I had the head gaskets sealed up but I revved up the engine and got a cloud of steam that would have made James Bond proud, decided to pull the plugs and see if any looked particularly steam cleaned as when you have a HG failure.
First photo is the passenger side. #2 looks suspiciously clean, especially compare to 6 and 8. Not sure what's going on there, but I have idled it more than driven it.
Second photo is drivers side. #1 looks dirty but the rest look like I would expect.
Cold dry compression test gives me 170 to 180 across all cylinders.
Or, given that I'm getting pretty decent compression, am i looking at a cracked liner or block?
All plugs were replaced along with the head gaskets.
I'm hoping I can get away with replacing just the passenger side, as I have 1 HG and 1 sides worth of bolts, I had a bolt pull the threads on the second 90' torquing and it was just as cheap to get a whole set of bolts and HG rather than piece them together. I also have some helicoils left after adressing that bad thread.

Well, looks like oil (black shiny plugs). I suspect the valve stem seals, especially since your compression is very good.
Maybe try some stop leak/seal conditioner. Or maybe replace the seals without removing the heads, at least make sure they are seated properly if you already changed them. That will be easier than replacing the head gasket. Even easier is using plugs with a hotter heat range, then topping up the oil as needed.

I never really thought about the oil seals though. My cloud wasn't oil, was defintiely steam. It doesn't smell of oil and dissapates quickly.

@Gnomadf I have to ask is it humid and cold there, could you just be seeing exhaust condensation burn off. Normally white from a head gasket leak does not go away and is very thick white.
So-is it possible that my throttle body heater is lightly leaking to the inside? Drawing in some coolant and burning it that way?
Man I am so up and down with this stupid thing! I really only need it until my Bronco comes in....but that could be a while.
