Hello. I am getting my head gaskets repaired.

I am wondering if there is anything i should have the mechanic do while heads are off etc. Certain brand of parts, what to replace etc.

If the current valves pass the pressure test, is it ok to reuse them? It sounded like the price i was given that is the plan. Machine shop will do a pressure test, then prep the head.

I haven't dropped it off yet. He said it will be no more than 1500. That includes everything, with the new bolts. Seems like a good deal, and he is a good mechanic from word of mouth.

If the pressure test holds and valves look good, it sounds like he will leave them? but the are doing the basic machining.
