Default Head Unit

What is the popular head unit replacement to get keeping the stock speakers, amplifier? I am also considering the Ipod upgrade through A.B. I just hate the HK head unit when trying to get stations and not having an ipod aux. port.

I've read Alpine through Best Buy but what model number and what can I expect to pay for M/L?

Thanks-

I got the new Parrot Asteroid. Easy install, sounds great and has bluetooth, handsfree, ipod hookup and even a GPS, podcasts etc as long as your phone has the ability to tether.

I bought it from Crutchfield. They have a good (free) installation kit and it was easy. The head fits seamlessly, and I only had to pull the ashtray/coin holder mount to route the ipod wire into the glovebox. I also broke a few fins in the stereo dash vent on the top of the dash in order to route the GPS antenna. (seen on the dash)

I also ran the mic for the handsfree through the under wheel fuse box hatch and up the driver's side under the A pillar trim. Super easy to do and great handsfree phone clarity.

I just ordered the same model on eBay. Did you have any quirks with wiring or the factory amp? I'm hoping to start here and move onto an aftermarket amp and speakers if need be.
