Headed to Colorado.. Tell me about Pikes Peak
We are taking 10 days in colorado beginning with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb..
I saw tickets are $40 but I am thinking, its one road and they are racing on it, so how does this work, do you need to get there early to get a good spot? And then just stay untill its over?? They have camping one day a year and thats the day of the race, so I take it people shell out the $100 to get a good camping spot the day before so they have a good spot the day of.
If one wasnt going to camp out, is there a good place to view the race?

The link is the website for the Hill Climb. It is July 19, starting at 8 am. I am going to be there at 4 am when the gates open to head up the mountain. Might try to sneak down to the Springs on Friday or Saturday to take part in the fan fest. 2 beer gardens, that has to make for a good time.
