I used Stripeze, paint stripper gel. Worked great, use a blade to remove it from flat surfaces, and in the corners I used steel wool to scrape it out.

I removed mine, just rubbed the foam layer with some leather gloves and it all just rolled off as it was old.

I sprayed it black with a black bed liner type spray from a can then reinstalled it. We love the finish, looks great.

I did the same as ACG. Zero regrets and very easy to touch up if needed. Also changed my color from tan to black to match the seats/interior.

Bought the Opal color material for my 2002. Installed with 3M Car Headliner spray(2 cans). Not a fun job, but looks loads better.

Notice, I kept the map holders off. One was broken in half, and the other sagged horribly. If I can get two perfect ones, I'll reinstall them later.

You do realise you will need to part or fully take it down to do that as there are lots of small little pressed metal nuts that hold it up I got a new set and fitted them, before I reinstalled mine .. but it does look good

Do you know how much a new map holder would be? I've never found a clean pair at a junkyard. Figured they were too pricey to buy new.

Thx

Default Map holder

I never thought about buying new one, but I put mine back in with sheet metal screws and washers to hold them in more snugly.
