Default Headliner Replacement Cost?

I have had Disco's in the past and I have had headliners replaced before, last one was prob 4 yrs ago....I called today to get a quote form a local shop $350-$450? Is it just me or is that EXTREMELY HIGH?!?!???

What have you been quoted or paid? It seems like I paid $150 last time I had one done in my last Disco...

I paid zero for mine, it was $1200, they replaced the whole thing and had to order it from the UK.
Glass shop ruined it while replacing my windshield, they had to pay to have it fixed.

Sounds about right to me, but I went the route of spending $50 on paint, space parts and a few other odds and ends and just painted it. I like the black/white contrast and not having to worry about it. But before doing that I was quoted $350 and he had done discos before so he knew what he was getting himself into.

I removed mine and took it to a headliner shop. They charged $150 to reline it, then I reinstalled it myself. They quoted me $325 if they removed and installed it.

Believe me, he's right - Just tried doing mine myself & wish I would have paid a professional up front. Check Craigslist - I found some good people there.

remove it yourself plenty of good info for the disassemble, I had a local high school re upholster the liner bought the material and glue myself, just make sure it's the right glue. The hardest part was scraping the old glue off. looks brand new.

I did mine with the liner and glue from headlinerexpress. It looks pretty good for my first try; probably could get it about perfect the next time. It's a reasonably fun project to DIY - time consuming but not difficult.

I paid about $140 (shipped) for the liner material and 2 cans of glue. If you can get a local shop to do it for that price, I'd say go ahead and have someone else do it and get it right.

I wrote up some comments re: my install experience on this site. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
