Has anyone got experience repairing the distribution box? The vent at passenger door has no air at all. And the other passenger vent is far cooler then driver side at same setting. Looks like a PITA to get to it. Is the airbag going to cause a problem? I cleaned the fan about a month ago and have good air flow on both driver side vents. I don't want my wife to freeze every time we go for a drive.

 

It is indeed a PITA to work on the box, sounds like you've got blend doors sticking or not working at all. The airbag is really a non issue, it just bolts into place. The real pain is removing the dash to access the heater box.

 

Probably a cheaper fix...

 

So are the doors that direct air flow serviceable?

 

Sort of, The servos that operate the blend doors are external, the doors are internal, I've seen some successful repairs done, but most of the time the doors and links (which are plastic) have deformed or broken due to age and the only repair was to replace the distribution box. You might consider looking for a good used one.
