Default Heated Seats Problem

My Heated Seats do not work I was wondering if anyone knew where the fuses might be for the heating mechanism. I checked under the stearing column and in the box in the engine and I didn't see one for the heated seats. I didlook under the seats but there are only 3 that seem to be for the seat positions. Before I decide to get new heating mechanisms I'd like to be sure it's not the fuses.

There is one fuse under each seat for the heaters. Do the lights on your heater switches come on when you push them?
Plus there is a fuse under the steering column, on my D2 it is #15.

Odd that both would be out, did you get it like that? If not then both going out at the same time would be more indicative of a fuse/electrical problemthan both heaters being shot I think. Mine has 136k and both seat heaters going strong.

Fuse #15 is for the Cigar lighter / Interior lamps / LH-RH Seat heaters.
So if the interior lamps or cigar lighter are working, we can rule that one out.

Fuses under the seat:
F1 40A Seat electrical supply
F2 3A Lumbar pump (Inflate)
F3 3A Lumbar solenoid (Deflate)

So if power seats are working, we know there is power.

Just pulled my heater switches, I believe pin 1 and 4 are the ones you want to check for continuity (open and closed).

My RAVE manual indicates 1k ohm per element (two per seat) so a total of 2k ohms should be read with a DMM.
Tried mine last night, but could not figure out which pins were for the elements.
If anyone knows, please let me know.

Hope some of this might help or get you closer

Regards,
Nick

Wow, this is an old post!

What I finally found was my heating element was open (broke).
Where the element was seperated, I spliced it with a crimp from RS and has been working great ever since.
You have to remove trim and seat cover to acess cusion. The area that is open will be obvious, burn mark on the foam of seat cusion.

Good luck!

Regards,

Nick

Also, moderators, a FAQ section would be great!

I have pics on what the break and repair entail.

Why must we say the same thing a thousand times?
A FAQ would eliviate most of the repition.

Nick
