LOL. That means that when you press the switch you will get fewer MPG!
I would have to say that something is drawing extra power, but if the window is not getting hot then I dont know what.
How long are you letting it stay on? Does it normally take a few min's for the heating elements to get hot? I would imagine that its not instant.
But what do I know?

Well I wouldn't know either since it has never worked since I got it !!! fewer m.p.g??? you mean that it can get worst[&:]
I guess I'll have to wait for the window to get foggy to try it again. But there's a timer on it, 5 minutes I think. Last winter, I would let it on until it shut off by itself and no defrosting at all was taking place.
Am I wrong to think that since the windshield has all those vertical lines in it, when it starts defrosting I should start seeing clear lines in the fog, somewhat like the rear window, but vertical and much closer together ??

Any extra strain on the engine will require more gas.
I have never had a car with a heated windshield, but man would that have been nice when I was in High School, beable to see right away after doing things with my girlfriend in the car down by the lake and realizing that we were 30 min late to get home, sure would have ben safer to drive at 80mph on back roads with defrosted windows!
Anyway, sorry to side track like I aways do, dont know why I do it, guess I just like to hear myself talk. Or is it type. Hell I dont know.
LOL, I think that the glass should clear pretty fast and I think the purpose of the wires being so close together is so that there are no spaces, and they are so thin so that they dont obstruct your vision.
Was I any help or did I just take up your time? You dont need to answer, i think I already know it.
