It is the same make whether heated or unheated, I have always been insistent on this glass make when the insurers are footing the bill but of course the insurance excess remains the same. In fact I took mine to a Landrover main stealership for both replacements when it was damaged.

Matter of interest, the LR Pilkington heated windscreen is an horrendous price unless the insurance is paying.
The windsheild in mine is clear, it has no tint of any color at all, in any lighting.
It looks new (other than the new crack), I'm nearly positive it can't be the original

I hate to say it but it does sound like it's not original. See the Aulro comments below.

I can tell you with 100% certainty that if you have a switch on your dash then it originally had it. You said you had a quote for $450. I find that hard to believe. My buddy has a glass shop. Land Rover sold the specs to a secondary manufacturer and it's 300 bucks less that route. I would put a Jeep sticker on my bumper if you can get it done for less than 700. I know because a certain pain in my *** daughter insists on a heated windshield. If I were you I would spend the $60 to have your star chip fixed. I doubt the circuit was broke

I went to Safelite's website.
Put in 04 LR Discovery.
It ask me if was a heated windsheild or not.
Regular, was $240
Heated, was $420
That is my state and zip
If you find it hard to belive, then look for yourself.
I also never said I had a "star chip", I said it's cracked...it needs replaced.
I thought since the switch was there, instead of a blank, that it originally had a heated winsheild.
I'm getting Safelite to put in a heated winsheild.

If your crack is less than 12 inches they can still fix it. It is still visible but you have to look hard

If it's a good quality heated, laminated and tinted windshield then go for it as that price takes some beating.
