Heater hose diameter
I used 5/8 heater hose from Auto Zone & cut it to fit. Start with the heat inner line & move the outer metal pipe out of the way by unbolting it from the inner pipe. That will greatly help you to get the new hose on.
you dreaming of being stranded somewhere because your hoses will blow
clear hoses are not usually as strong your asking beggening for a problem

That is very true for clear hose from somewhere like Home Depot, but McMaster Carr has clear flexible hose in both high temp and pressure.
You probably know this but just a heads-up, that hose is sold $10.50 per foot.
It's $7.50 on HPS website, IDK what shipping does to that price.
Either way it will work just use smooth hose clamps made for silicone hose.
