Default Heavy rain=water leak...hellllpppp...(again)

My 02 disco ii se7, has a leak. From somewhere. First time I noticed, I was parked on an incline... Nose downwards and it screwed up my radio....dried it out... Put some sealant around where I thought leak was coming in and started parking 'nose up' like I'm going up hill...everything was OK except we had a HEAVY HEAVYYYY rain and though radio was OK this time, water is leaking from area above rearview mirror when I make particular turns. Can someone please walk me thru the process of checking/ fixing this leak. I can't let dealer do it as they are charging me $200 just to ASSESS the truck and tell me all of its "quirks"...I dare ask them to fix anything except my atf change...

Sounds like the seal around your windshield has a void allowing penetrating water to enter. I had a windshield replaced on my 01, installer went a little light on sealant - it developed a leak. I had water seeping in exactly where your experiencing (above rear view mirror). I squirted some sealant in the void and all was good.

The water comes from above rearview mirror only

The opposite side of where the water is seeping in. Youll have to remove the windshield weather strip running along top of the windshield to be able to get a good squirt of sealant in there. Once you pull back the weather stripping you may even notice the void.

Mine leaked from that spot also but it came from a broken sunroof drain. It would leak from the sunroof the travel via the head liner to the rear view mirror. You might want to check just in case.

I have the same issue and didn't care until it dripped on my cell phone. So I'm going to subscribe here and hopefully duplicate your success.

I know removing the headliner is a huge deal. I've done that once and you would have to remove all of the trim that overlays it, which is most of the interior.

Charlie, remember that if its a huge deal there is always a waterproof cell phone you can get. LOL!
