Hella's on the Roof rack Question
hey guys...so tried doing as much research as possible, and have begun my light install
what i have: 2 500ff, and 2 700ff
questions:
1) can i wire all 4 lights to one relay? (or should i just use the 2 that i have, 1 from each box)
2) if i need both relays - can i splice the relay to switch wires so that 1 switch turns on all 4 lights?
3) general electrical question:
- on top, i obviously will be splicing and routing wires down to under the hood - my plan was to use regular twist on connectors w/ some liquid electrical tape --- all wrapped with some loom followed by everything wrapped in electrical tape - sound good? or overkill / not enough?
- under the hood : switch wires
a) where do i wire the power for the switch? same place as where i am going to power the lights/relay? (which will be at the underhood fusebox location)
thanks for reading - and for the help!

#1 Personally I would use 2 relays if not your probably gonna over load them.
#2 You should be fine with 1 switch powering 2 relays at the same time.
#3 I personally like solder an heat shrink but to each his own. I would also put a plug or connectors so you can remove the rack without cutting and splicing wires ever time.
#4 You should be able to tap into a power source either under dash or underhood, just make sure its a large enough circuit to handle the extra amps

thanks for the input, went "all out" with wire loom, shrink wrap, waterproof connectors....better do it once the right way i guess...
last question, is there a problem with mounting a relay onto hard abs plastic? i mounted both relays inside the d2 battery compartment where there is a big open and separate space from the batt if u know what im talking about....near the bottle jack....
it all works good, but perhaps i overlooked this major hazard? and relays must be mounted to metal?

You should be fine mounting the relays onto plastic they have a separate ground wire. I hate doing wiring stuff twice I always try to do it the best way possible the first time even if it does cost a little more, its better then having a headeache down the road later
