Default Help. 02' Land Rover Disco2

Hello All,
My first post and I am sure will not be my last. Bought a used 2002 Refurbished Discovery II, remanufactured engine installed at 112,000 miles, new brakes and rotors, new hub bearing assemblies, new terra firma shocks/struts/springs, new BF Goodrich tires, new battery. Recent synthetic oil and filter change as well as the transmission serviced. The three amigos lights are on . My problem seems to be a little pin that is inside the shifter . It is causing the vehicle to only operate in limp mode . What is this part called so I can replace. Or should I just be looking at replacing the whole gearbox and lever. Any insight is appreciated .

@firmmaybe You have 2 different things there
  1. 3 amigos which are a braking systems, and affect your ABS system
  2. Limp mode which normally cause the M & S lights to flash
  3. The pin in the shifter is a safety interlock and nothing else
Get your codes read with a Land Rover capable code reader, NOT A GENERIC reader, and post the codes

Thank you Richard, My brother came through with his reader that has Land Rover capability last night. Helped a sister out lol. He started working on my driver side window motor while he was at it . Codes pulled are
P0705
P0447
P0134
P0135
P0155
P0101
P1174
P1590

He says lots of things pointing to O2 sensors

Yea you have a lot stuff going on

1590 is rough road signal at that can trigger the 3 amigos it can be cleared to see if it returns. if it does more diagnostics will be required
1174 is a vacuum leak although it could be the MAF (mass air low sensor) the P0101 also relates to the MAF
0705 Gear position switch incorrect output, basically your transmission is not sure where it is I think this could be the XYZ switch not sure
P0447 is related to the purge canister it could be a simple connection issue or issue with the canister it self
The 134,135,155 are all O2 sensor related.

I would suggest downloading the RAVE and search for each code, search P0477 for example - you need the leading P.

1 big thing was the battery good, a dead or low battery can cause all kinds weird codes.

Hopefully someone else will chime in I have only had simple to fix codes myself.

Thanks man , really appreciate that input. He will be back here today after work and I will let him read your comments here. He is very good mechanic along with one of his friends . My husband is too but he is so busy with work he has not had time to help me with it to much.

The XYZ was replaced in DEC 2016 not sure how long they are supposed to last for lol.
Will recheck battery but pretty sure is fine.. When cleared the codes last night it took it out of limp mode and we were able to drive around the neighborhood for about 10 min for test drive. But of course as soon as we got into the driveway and put it into Park it went back into limp mode with 3 amigos lights.

Will download that RAVE as well...as I am sure will be very useful tool. Thank you!

So hubs took out the xyz switch and cleaned it up , along with fixing some corrosion along the wiring for the battery the 3 amigos are gone. Only light left is the sport mode light which is lit up in Red. Going to have my brother come back by with code reader to clear codes and retest.

These are pretty voltage fussy so electrical corrosion can cause a bunch of issues
