Help with 1138 code
Help, help, help.
Guys, I need your expertise and ideas on how I can cleared out the 1138 code from my Discovery 96 4.0 Lt with 90,000 miles.
I started working on clearing out " the check engine light " and after few repairs like newspark plugs, new cables and others .
the only oneleft is the 1138 code that means " engine sensor " Engine rich " codes" AD.
My mechanic says that we need to replaced the Sensor by the Passanger side.
He is not certified for Land rover cars, so I would like to learn from you is this is the right decision or we should try something else.
greetings from the windy city Chicago.

Thank you for yor replay Spike555, I was picking up my high school kid and I took longer to came back. My mechanic wants to replace the sensor by the catalyzador because on his computer shows 1 H02 sensor banco "A" by the passander side.
Ok, he is talking about the oxygen sensor, he needs to replace all of them at the same time.
How long ago did he replace the plug wires? On Discovories when the plug wires go bad it will set off a O2 sensor and or a to rich fault code.
Try and find out what plug wires he used and how long ago they were installed.

If he used Land Rover plug wires then your should be fine, if he used anything but Land Rover or Magnecor plug wires then yes, replace the plug wires first. They will be cheaper than O2's.
They sold you what you asked for, plug wires that will fit a Land Rover.
Order the Magnecor plug wires and then return the ones from AutoZone after you install the new ones.
