Default HELP - ABS SENSOR

I have a 1996 Disco with the ABS (AntiLock) light ON, I cleaned and pulled both front ABS Sensors but I didn't notice if thesensors are mounted all the down to the rubber boot. I tried remounting the cleaned sensor but it wouldn't go down all the way to the boot. Instead it is a little off the rubber boot where the line on the sensor is showing. I didn't want to force itthe way down to where the rubber boot is touching the mountbecause I maydamage the sensors. Can you please tell me if there is a proper way of remounting the sensor or is there an alignment guide for the sensor to sit right?

Thanks

Usually on an older vehicle, you replace the rubber gromets that hold the sensor so they will stay alligned.

Thanks for your info. Actually, I have replaced the brake rotors and pads. The brake works fine after the rotors and pads were replaced, it was just the ABS light wouldbe ON as you drive off then will turn itself off as normal then after a minutes of driving and stopping it would come back ON. This is why I pulled the sensors to clean it. I just did not noticed how the sensor was sitting, whether is all the way flush to the mount or not. I will remount it this weekend and will let you know how it went.

Thanks for all your help.

I believe the general instruction is to push them all the way in, and they will be "kicked" out to the correct position when you drive forward.
