Default HELP!!! Brand new owner...

I have had my 2000 Disco for 4 days now...it has 88K on it..as I am driving home from work the car started rocking back and forth at stop lights and making a thumping sound when I stopped. It appears to be coming from the right front of the vehicle....I also noticed today for the first time the sloshing sound I have read about...

I have checked the items mentioned in the other posts and don't see fluid loss, have good pressure and no heater issues...could my thump and rocking be connected to some rare Rover issue ????

Were you pumping the brakes to make it rock back and forth?

Have you changed your brake fluid?

Have you looked at your brake pads? Any large grooves on the discs?

Sounds like you may have worn through your pads, or perhaps contaminated them.

Is there an ABS light on? Perhaps the ABS system came on due to a faulty sensor.

Sounds like you have an HSE

That's above my pay grade - don't know anything about hydraulic stabilizers.

Are you sure your front drive shaft is not failing, they are know to have u-joint failures in the constant velocity joint which will also take out the tranny when it fails.

Ouch...I had that happen on an old Cherokee I had. Spun the shaft right THROUGH the bell-housing. [>:]
