Default Help with Diagnosis - next step.

What is my next step - having issues.........
2003 DII SE 4.6L 105K

Recent items done in order of performance: Has been less than 1000 miles since completion.
New Bosh Platinums and Blue STI Wires
Air Filter - not K&N
ATF Engine Flush and Synthetic Oil Change Mobil 1
ATF Fluid and Filter Change - Synthetic
DriveShaft rebuilt new Ujoints and center bearings
New Front Rotors and pads with Synthetic Brake fluid flush
New OME Steering Damper and Synthetic PS fluid change
Pulled hose off valve cover and sucked a can of Seafoam in thru vacuum hose
Throttle body cleaning. All parts from AB.
I run Shell 93 exclusively.

On my way home after a short trip last night started running slugginsh SES started flashing - read codes: P0307 and P0302 Misfires and P1319
Cleaed codes and restarted after 10 seconds they came back.
When the car first starts cold it runs at a higher RPM for a short while and then it slowsdown, That is when the SES comes on.

I know Magnecor, Magnecor, Magnecor - But I have New 8MM STI wires.
Watched plugs last night, no Arcing.
Took UV light to engine, no leaks - the coolant flouresces orange under UV at night
I will pull #7 and #2 plugs to inspect for wetness/coolant and shine uv into cylinder- hopefully not that (ie head gasket)

Am I overlooking something? Any Diagnosis Steps Im missing?

Thanks

Randy

How full was your tank?

Get a can of BG 44K and throw it in your tank before you are going on a trip. You can use it for in town driving, but on the highway for long distances, and on-ramps at WOT are the best way to clean everything out.

Haven't heard a whole lot about STI wires, but when you say platinum plugs, are they the +4? if not, get them, or switch back to the regular champions.

Can't do that cause of the flashing CEL.
Might want to do a compression test to make sure you don't have some valves hanging up.
I can't find the 1319 code, have any idea what it is?

This started 50 miles AFTER a fill up of Shell 93 Light flashing is SES not CEL (if there is both)

P1319
Land Rover
Misfire with Low/Empty FuelDrive cycle C:Signal out of range - above maximum

Did seafoam foul the new plugs (champion platinum)

I would say so. Get the regular champion or the +4 plugs. I went the same route my first change, and I had poor results with those plugs. Not too expensive to swap back to the regular....

You need to at least pull the 2 misfires and check them...

I wouldn't think it would be a plug or wire problem. For what it's worth, the large indy Land Rover repair shop Ifrequent uses STI plug wires exclusively and theowner told me he has never had a problem with them. 30k on mine and so far so good.

That said, you may have had a plug wire work its way loose in back. Had it happen to me once, it gave me intermittent missfires. Yes, the enginefelt "sluggish" but I could also tell it was missing on a cylinder. This happened to me aboutsix months after installing new wires, the shop fixed it - no charge.

Is there a numbered diagram of the coil pack, the RAVE is not numbered. I cant get my hands in there and will have my small handed helper (son) check for loose ones. As for the plugs - I just want to confirm #7 is right (driver side US) rear (closest to windshield) and #2 is left front - from the perspective of the radiator.

Ok here is the update.

Plug wires on coil packs are all tight.

Pulled Plugs 7 and 2, 7 is totally black, #2 and the other 4 I pulled were half black.
I am swapping # 2 plug with #4 plug and # 7 plug with # 8 plug I would hope that I can Induce a P0308 fault
and maybe a p0304 as well.
Again there is ~1000 miles on these plugs post Induction cleaning with seafoam and throttle body clean
These are Bosch platimum plus plugs. If I need to replace I will go with the Bosch +4 Platinum Ir Fusion plugs........ I dont care if they are $8/ea

Ok, I hope that pic is viewable............

After switching the plugs the fault code also moved corresponding to the plug.
Recap- Had P0307 and P1319 fault , moved plug 7 to position 8 and 8 to position 7
New fault code P0308 and P1319
So, can someone look at my picture and with this info, tell me that without a doubt my plugs are fouled and
I should replace them with at least a +4 plug!!
Thanks

Randy
