Default Help get my back door open

Just baught a 1999 discovery II with a 4.0 110000 miles. Back door dosnt open. took pannal off inside plastic clip was broke. Fix that still can not open it. Everything seems to move freely. Could it be the actuator if so is there some way to open the door to work on it.

Hold up the lock and then try and open it.

You have to be able to open the door to get to the child safety latch as its on the door jam near the latch. If you cannot open the door from the outside due to the handle being broken or something and the child safety lock is on then you are going to have to take the panel off the inside of the door and try to manually actuate the door latch to open it.

You have to manually actuate the latch that the outside handle would if your door was working properly.
