Default Help identify mystery sound!

Hi, our nonprofit just picked up a 2004 Disco 2 that has the Atlantic British motor to fix the faulty OEM issue. It’s a nice rig and was owned by a pilot who is very meticulous. Very clean rig inside and out.

Got it in Vegas and road tripping to Wyoming. Just passed Park City started getting this bad noise only when under acceleration. Slow or fast it’s there. Sounds like a knocking or exhaust gasket/ manifold leak. In the car it seems like it’s coming from passenger side but outside it seems like it’s from the center of the undercarriage. Please help with any ideas

sounds like an exhaust leak that occurs when the engine torques a bit on the mounts.....cracked header? cracked down-pipe? loose down pipe bolts at header? hmmmm... hopefully, just the exhaust

Yep, I agree it sounds like an exhaust leak. Chk at exhaust manifold, downpipe connections... If you can't find it by looking underneath and/or underhood, I'd throw it up on a lift at a shop and have someone in it apply throttle, will find it very quickly.

If you need help in Utah, I would strongly suggest Great Basin Rovers in Salt Lake. They really know their stuff. www.GBRutah.com, 801 – 486 – 5049
