Default Help me decide wich disco to get!

All of these disco's are about the same price and have about the same appeal to me... But I can't decide which is best... Any suggestions?

Before we go any further, what do you plan to use the vehicle for? That will determine which is best suited to your needs.

Go for the last one, it is the newest of them all, it is the top model trim and is the best color of them all, I like that Army green kinda color.
The first one is missing the stereo and the check engine light is on.
The second one is to old.
The third...I just dont like something about it. Cant put my fingure on it, color maybe? Something tells me dont buy it.
But the last one says buy me. If I were in the market that is the one that I would test drive and give the twice over anf then low ball them on the price.
They have the price in the window, they have already dropped it by $1,000 which means it has been sitting there for a while.
Low ball them.

Since I am not a Discovery expert, I will comment more on the buying process

A few questions:

• How far are these from you?
• Do you have a trade-in or are you buying them outright?
• Have you contacted the dealers to see if they are still in stock/ask questions about them?
• Have you driven any of them?

I looked at Discoverys for about a month before I finally brought one home. A lot of the time, I had found exactly what I wanted, only to call the dealer/seller to find it was already sold (many dealers do not take down their listing right away when the vehicle is sold for various reasons.) On other occasions, I had driven 300 miles to find out that the truck looked great on the outside, but mechanically it was a wreck.

Since I had a trade, my process was a bit more complicated, but here's basically what I did.

[ul][*]Know what you want to pay, what the vehicle is worth, and what your trade is worth. Use Edmunds.com and NadaGuides.com to find this information.[*]Call the seller to see if the vehicle is still in stock. This is a good time to ask if there are any defects or blemishes with the vehicle. Forget about haggling, the seller will give you a better price in person.[*]Print out the "AutoBiography" for the vehicles your interested in. Many times the CarFax report will be included in these.[*] Get a 1 month CarFax subscription. You'll find some interesting things on those reports. Mostly, you can get a nice overview of how often the vehicle was serviced and what was serviced. However, not all service centers mechanics report vehicle service information. For this reason, you should also ask the seller if they have service records for the vehicle.[*]Set aside a day to go check the vehicles out. Plan your route, print out maps, do whatever you need to do.[*]Let the seller you know you are coming to see the truck.[*]Show up with your "dossiers" on each truck - the salesman/seller will notice them. Tell them you are going to buy today, but you want to make sure you are buying the best truck. The salesman will not have many tactics based on this besides offering a better price. They will probably tell you that someone else is on their way down to buy the truck to pressure you into buying. Do not fall for this.[*]Drive each truck. They will drive different - each will have its own nuances and defects. When I was driving different Discos, I could immediately tell which one needed brake work or had poorly balanced/worn tires or was in desperate need of a tune-up. These are things the salesman/seller will not tell you - they will let you find out for yourself.[*]Call the seller of the truck you want and tell them that you found an identical truck from another seller (whether this is true or not, it does not matter) at a lower price. They saw the "dossiers" in your hand, so they will know there is some truth to this. Then tell them that you would rather buy their truck, but the price difference is too great. See if they will budge on price.[*]Buy said truck.

since i like to think of myself as the bad conscience of our little family, i will just go ahead and tell you to get all of them (or at least two) so that way you will have one to drive around and basically the others will act as mobile parts bins...

Did you search AutoTrader with a price cap of $4000? If so, try running your search again with the price cap set at $4500. There's always a bit a wiggle room.
