Default HELP... NOT STARTING!!!

I have a 2000 Diso... Have done some work on it myself (small stuff) Anyone have any ideason it not starting. I can't get it cranked up to read the OBD II. I know I have to replace O2 sensor, but could this cause the problem. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

Are you saying that the engine turns over, but it does not run? It does not have to be running to read the codes, if you have a code reader just plug it in and turn the ignition on. I doubt the O2 sensors would keep it from running at all.

O2's have nothing to do with it. You need to elaborate, will it not start or not turn over? Does it start and then stall?

Check your battery connection if you arent getting any responce at all from turning the key. If that doesnt help then there is something deeper to the problem.

The thing will turn over just fine. Not an issue there, it will not fire.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. The battery was fine. The alt. was fine. The engine would turn, but it would not start. It turned out to be the crank position sensor. About an $80 part, if I recall correctly. Not too difficult to install. I have not had any problems since then.

Good luck.

Go rent a scanner, turn the key to the on position and read the codes, then get back to us.
Also, how many miles on the engine?

Can we assume that you have not had any past problems with starting it and that you have not done any workwhat so everon the truck since the last time it was running (i.e. replacedspark plug wires or fuel filter, etc...?) You canget a code reader for about $30 or rent one for free from a parts store (you have to leave a big deposit usually). I'm very glad I bought one.
