Help Over Heating! and Check Engine Light...
Hello My 2000 Land Rover Discovery Is Overheating, and I Need Help! Just Changed The Head Gaskets,t-stat. It Works Fine While I am driving it for a Few Minutes but then it overheats! I Have Been Stressed out about this problem and would appreciate it very much if I could Get Help.I am thinking about Bleeding it. Is that a Good Idea? Also My "Check Engine" came on flashing could it be something is wrong in my Spark plugs or Spark Plug Wires? Thank You All So Much!
Thank You Thank You Thank You So Much For The Reply! I Would Really appreciate you can tell me the proper way to Bleed it. I Drove it around a bit and it seems to not over heat as much anymore. However I did notice that the water goes down Fast.Is that Normal? I Think That about the "Check engine Light" I Think Its the Spark Plugs. Even though the guy at the auto shop said he didnt think that was the problem. I am sticking with you Guys! I Really Appreciate you Two! you Two are always Big Help Thank You Again!!!

Thanks You So Much! For The Respond! Just Changed The Spark Plugs! One Of Them was in Really Bad Shape.and The Check Engine Light Didn't Flash Anymore Thank GOD! Drove It and it didn't Over heat anymore I even Turned on The a/c! Now I am Worried about The Water why it goes down? Any Idea what it could be?
what codes are you getting? what did the spark plugs look like that where "bad", you can tell alot by the color and texture of the tips to tell if its a fuelling problem, coolant or oil fouling or just a plain ol defective plug (which happens, people drop plugs all the time before they even hit the shelves unfortunatly

water going down can be a leak somewhere, if you dont have puddles under the truck or see it seaping from a hose somewhere, it might be getting into the motor... through the headgaskets :-/ is there any smoke or a sweat smell from the exhuast or engine bay? engine bay leaks you can usually smell if it manages to drop on anything hot, youll see a puff of white smoke and smell something strange but sweet chemical smell. hard to describe but once you smell it youll never forget it.
who did the headgasket install? yourself, friend, mechanic or dealer?
you definatly have to bleed the system after a headgasket and thermostat change... the level might drop if trapped airpockets are getting out of the system and back into the overflow where it should stay.
def read the link on how to bleed, its usually rather easy in any car... air wants to travel to the highest point in a system and if you lift the hoses above the radiator fan out of the shroud holders and open up the releif valve you might get spurts of air and then finally a steady stream of coolant as you refill to normal level.

Thank You For All The Help! The truck Runs Really Really Good it Does Not Over Heat Or anything. Thier Is No Smoke,Smell Coming Out Of It. It's Just The water that gets low. Also thier is no puddles under the truck. Could it be a Leak?
Check under the throttle body heater for signs of coolant leak.
