Help please - need official coolant bleeding procedure asap
Hey guys - been awhile since I've been on here, and don't have access to my old email account / password so I had to setup as a new user. Long story short, I just got my rebuild motor back from the machine shop for my 01 D2, and it's installed along with new radiator, thermostat, water pump, etc. That said, my mechanic is having major issues bleeding the system. Could someone please post the procedure? I've searched the forum but cannot find it for some reason. Thanks in advance -

guys - if anybody gets this who knows the procedure (Mike - not sure if you got my PM earlier this a/m) - please post the procedure on here if you have it, or PM me and I'll call you if you can walk us thru it. Trying to get the system bled tonight if possible. Thanks -

Remove expansion tank from its mounting

Fit the bleed screw then, with the expansion

Basically from what I understand.. with a "stone cold truck".. (might need 2 people) take bleed screw off and you want to undo and elevate the resevoir tank and raise it 8 inches above bleed hose.. pour coolant in res until it flows from bleed screew.. put bleed screw back in.. put res back in its place then top off and put cap on.. check after 2 days of use..

Thanks - I had read from Mike on an earlier post that these same directions were followed, but that they were not correct...I dunno...something about NOT bleeding the system with the resevoir cap off?

raising the tank in very important to the bleed.
1. cold engine
2. loosen bleed screw
3. remove cap on tank
4. lift tank above bleed screw, be careful not to break plastic lines coming off tank. Ask me how I know
5. fill until you see a STEADY stream of fluid out of the bleed screw, then tighten
6. lower tank back into position fill it all the way to the top and put the cap on.
7. start truck and run with heat on full blast.
You can also leave the cap off and let the truck get up to operating temps to allow the system to "burp out all the air once the stat opens.
both have worked for me. the burp is good if you don't or didn't lift the tank
