Help Solve my Idling problem?
Im sure it didnt toast the engine, It was just getting overheated on long drives, Which i dont do alot with it. Why wouldnt overheating cause the Crank sensor to stop working... That sounds right to me.
So i did that test that one of the members recommended and everytime i reved up to any RPM and let off it sunk down to 500RPM or a little below and slowly climbed back to the original RPM of 750, So i stand corrected on the coolant idea. Im out of ideas now guys...What could it be???
With that dip and slow return to idle, and no codes being thrown - I'd say you've just got a crudded up Idle air control valve. Remove it, clean it, and your idle will likely return to normal.
Thank you man, that was my first thought, But i cant find the damn thing! anybody with pictures to help me locate it and what i need to remove to get to it.
PM me your tele number if you don't find the problem and lets talk.
The idle control valve is on the throttle body, closest to the opening, two screws hold it on, remove it, clean it and the port that it goes into do NOT turn the plunger.
Reinstall and then drive it and see what happens.
Make sure tht you do a full throttle body cleaning also.

So I am new to land rovers, but I had a issue very similar to yours with my 96 dodge truck. Which I found out it was the battery, it was on its last paces, and it would randomly make the engine quit and would let the engine idle lower than normal. And also I would have to push the gas a bit to get it started every morning. Which after i put the new battery in, all the problems disappeared.
