help w/ coolant leak - 04 Disco II
I have a very slow leak located behind the alternator and below the throttle cables (on the upper left side of the motor as you're facing it). The hose connects to a metal extension coming out of the motor. The leak is actually at the seal between the extension and the engine itself, hoses are fine. Which hose part is this, and do I replace a seal here or the entire thing? I can send a few digital pics if my description isn't sufficient, I'm fairly new to the rover engine.
A picture would really help, your description is kind of ambiguous. Is the leak coming out of the throttle body plate? (Where your black plastic intake hose meets your engine at the throttle body there are two coolant hoses which attach underneath; the gasket is a common failure point and LR makes a $15 repair kit).
As far as I know the hoses have never been replaced and have about 50,000 miles on them - I'm the second owner. I looked further when I had a chance, and leak is coming from the motor going to the heater core. Think I'll have all the hoses replaced while I'm at it, I have a camping trip and some 4 wheeling in shenandoah this weekend, don't need leaking and overheating issues. Looks like just a rubber seal between the hose extension and the motor, is that all?
