Check your brake light switch. YOu have 2 on your pedal lever. One os for cruise and one is for brake lights and the neutral lockout. Lots of four wheelers keep a spare switch for just this reason. Turn your truck on and see if you have brake lights.

If they are off, replace the switch. If they are on, move on to the neatral saftey switch. When the brake light circuit is energised, it energises a solenoid in the shifter. You should hear a little click from the center column along with 2 faint clicks near the brake pedal.

ok, I didn't mean neutral safety switch. There is a lock out switch that will not allow you to shift from park unless you hit the brake. If your brakelight switch fails, you can not shift from park.

Antilock will light everytime you turn it on. That is normal. It should turn off after you have pulled off alittle ways. If it stays on while driving, you ahve to get the codes read by someone with a proper scanner, not just Autozone.

Didn't really follow your post, but I have a 97 as well. Do you have brake lights with the ignition on and hitting the brakes?
