Thumbs down Here we go. o2 issues.

Hello again guys,

A while ago I posted in regards to replacing my bank one o2 sensor. I did that about 2 days ago, got the part from British Atlantic and all was well, cept, I still get the same code for the no o2 sensor, running lean. I disconnected and cleaned the connection and still nothing. Can you suggest a next step in diagnosing the problem?

I have to have admissions done on this asap and after changing the plugs AND wireset I figured the o2 sensor would have been the easiest thing to fix but guess not lol.

Also I out of the blue got a MAF code. So I don't know what that is about all of the sudden.

I would start at the MAF. Then maybe look for a vacuum leak. Spray around hose ends and gaskets with carb cleaner when its running and see if it picks up.

Also, might just need some time to read the new O2 sensor properly. Maybe give it a tank of gas to see if prob persists.

I hunted for a problem on the same sensor for months.
Turned out to be a corroded contact in the grey connector near the coolant reservoir.
That O2 has it's own brown and pink (I believe) running thru that connector.

You can bench test the sensor with a small propane torch. That would tell you whether the problem is with the new sensor, some of which are bad out of the box in my experience, or with the connectors or wiring.

You need an elm327 bluetooth code reader and the torque app so you can see the sensor readings. Then depending on the left/right reading, you can swap to isolate sensor vs circuit vs engine conditions. Possible situations:

1. Sensor does not cycle on one side, and moves when sensor is moved. Bad sensor
2. Sensor does not cycle on one side, and does not move when sensor is moved - circuit or engine issue.
3. Sensor reads rich on startup, then goes full lean and stops cycling - engine issue.
4. Sensor reads the same all the time - see one and two, 4+1=1. 4+2=circuit issue.

Check the two vac hoses that go to the pass side intake manifold. The brake booster one is probably broken. I'd also check the MAF for proper readings. You can use a code reader to monitor systems and take it for a drive. You should be around .10-.13 lbs/s on the highway, 0.06 or so at idle.

I've had these codes on my 03 replaced all 4 o2 same issue here is how I resolved it

check for vaccum and exhaust leaks with a smoke machine is best I did it had no vaccum leaks but problems for o2 lean continue however you must replace that vaccum solenoid for the gas vapours purge
mine was closed when truck off than it would stick open sucking vapours into manifold you can smell the exhaust when it's not running right
replaced that truck had been fine for months

if you want plug the intake vaccum port where purge valve line connects to and run it for a few days see if that fixes it
in the mean time you will get a purge fault code don't worry
if it's the purge solenoid get the Hyundai one much cheaper and its plug and play part number for that is somewhere on this forum
