Here's a new one. SAI pump kicked on after hitting brakes hard.
Just did the head gaskets and took it out for a 100 mile highway run in the snow.
Aside from Three Amigos testing and traction control prurposes, I've never had to test the the ABS.
I was going a wee too fast for the road conditions and a red light changed at one of those akward distances...too far away to run it but too close to stop in time.
The brakes pulsated fine for about 100 feet as I slid in the snow and I came to a stop just a few feet shy of being in the intersection.
While I was waiting for the light to change, I'll be darned if what sounded like the SAI pump kicked in. It was far too loud to be the aux fan and I'm not familiar with any other system under the hood that makes a similar noise.
It ran for 5 seconds or so and shut off.
The air pump works fine on start up as it should and has never came on like this before. I'm also reasonly certain that there's no wiring issues after the head gasket repair.
Anyone care to speculate?
