1200 or so is what it would be worth to me... hard to get much out of a non running hg leaker

 

That's about what I'm expecting.
Funny thing, the gasket took a dump while it was running in the driveway.
Just sitting there at idle, normal temp range and pop, juice out the front.
that was a first for me.

Are you sure it's the HG and not the front cover gasket?

 

i paid $600 for a blown HG 2000 SD.

 

Or radiator hose...


What happened to me... there's a hose on the top of the intake, UNDER THE UPPER PART, ITS HIDDEN, mine blew off and spewed anti freeze all over, put a new clamp on and it fixed my leak.


How sure are you its a head gasket?

 

HG kit is about 200 and takes less than a day to put on in the garage. I can't see your original ad but you will probably get a lot more if you fix it yourself. It is not impossible for normal people to do (I am NOT a mechanic and have done two). I enjoyed learning how to do it. If someone buys a rover that just needs a HG they will think they got a steal.

Also, consider that you have a vehicle that hasn't been made for over a decade... the parts are worth more than the vehicle.
