Default Hi-Lift Jack

How many of you carry a Hi-Lift in/on your Disco?

If so, which model?

Have you purchased/used the Hi-Lift winching kit?

Finally, where do you have the jack mounted?

Don't have a winch yet, and not yet ready to make that investment, but I am looking to add a little insurance to my off road adventures (when my Disco finally returns)...

The antenna mounts on the top of my ARB bull bar strike me asa decent spot to mount a Hi-Lift...

No I do not have a Hi-Lift jack. I think that they are best suited for rock crawling, most everything else you could do with the bottle jack.

I argree with spike, depending on what you do will determine what you really need. As for mounting though I have them them mounted on the side roof rack, and on the spare tire. I think Atlantic British has some mounts for them. The ones I have seen on the spare tires look pretty cool. But like I said, if you dont do things where you would need them, I would save that money and put it toward a quality winch. Oh yeah, the most popular one I see used is the 48 inch, but thats just around here, I see more of the normal ones rather than the extreme version, but Im not sure which is better.

Here is some mounts:

I'll keep an eye out for the spare mounts. good luck!

I've carried a hi-lift in my Jeep for years. They are a must have for any serious off-roading. The 48" works fine for vehicles with 33" or smaller tires, above 33" tires you will probably need the 60" hi-lift. With 100' of chain they make a great 'poor mans winch'. Just be careful when letting pressure off the jack, the handle can fly back and crack you in the head.

I carry a 48" hi-lift on the outside of the spare tire, vertically. I've got the winch kit for it, but I have not had to use it yet. You can never be over-prepared.

I tried forever to find a safarigard hi lift mount, and never found one for sale. I finally built one out of plate steel and tube. It was pretty easy toreplicatewith a grinder, drill press, and mig welder.
