i just become a proud owner of my first land rover . its been gas converted . and supposedly working fine until gas ran out and was switched too petrol
. when you put it on petrol it turns gets a spark but refuses to start . but will start off of a bump . has any one got any ideas please . i am yet too put gas in and see if it works off of that
thank you andy

Ok, for all of us Yanks by "gas" he means propane.
By petrol he means gasoline.
Typically there is a switch that you need to throw to switch back and forth from "gas" to "petrol"
The trucks fuel system needs to know which one to use and this switch tells it what fuel to use.
Make sense?
Call the person you bought it from and see where the fuel cut off switch is.
Unless you disable the "petrol" fuel pump it will pump "petrol" into the engine as well as "gas".
So there must be a switch to turn power to the "petrol" fuel pump on and off as needed.
Let us know what you find.

it wont start off of the key the engine just turns over seems to get fuel and spark . but starts straight away from a tow . but idles bad and dies you have to keep revs up when driving it miss's and runs rough . but when warm it did seem to start off of the key after 15 mins of nervous oh no im going to break down any min driving

Ok, so it turns over but wont start.
It is a 5 speed and if you tow it and dump the clutch it will start and run rough.
Sounds like a tune up is needed very badly.
That means new spark plugs and spark plug wires.
Also have your ignition timing checked.
If that is off it will run very poor.
The no idling on its own sounds like a bad idle control valve, but do the tune up first.
The inertia switch is a rubber button on the fire wall, it is on the left side of the truck if you are looking at it from the front on US models.
I do not think that is your problem but pressing it for 5 seconds to try and reset it wont hurt anything.
