Has anyone done a HID xenon light conversion from the stock halogens? H7 for low and High beam, H11 for the fog lights. This might work as an alternative to loading on external driving lights. Seems there are 35 & 55W variants

Lots of people have, but it's illegal and dangerous to other drivers, though many people are in denial about it.

Installed them in mine long ago. One of the best modifications you can do.

So perhaps installing on only high beam and/or fogs when neither behind or in oncoming traffic makes sense. All about being courteous and safe. There are times when more light keeps you safe(er) but not at the expense of others being temporarily burned. The option is of course is Hellas or other auxiliary lights right?

Just curious...

Did you disassemble the housings and attach/fit projectors into them, or just swap the bulbs?

I.e., this: HID Projector How-To on a 03-04 Discovery-lots of pictures

No I did not, but that is epic, and it's certainly something to consider.

On the 03/04 style headlamps the spread isn't horrible to begin with, and will not blind or even bother other drivers with even the lowest riding of cars on the road. I've been running them for over five years now in my Discovery and have had other drivers flash me perhaps two of three times in six years.

The whole "you can't run them" "you'll blind other drivers" "HIDs in halogen housings club baby seals" mentality is a bunch of bull.

Here's some pictures from six years ago with them pointed at my own car before they were even adjusted well.

Yeah, bunch of bull. That's why they are illegal in nearly every industrialized country in the world. Only people who ignore physics know anything.

Not sure why you posted the two photos, all they do is prove points made by the NHTSA, other traffic safety governing bodies and lighting engineers.
