Default High Idle

Does anyone out there have an insight on why in the morning when I walk out to my 03DII to start it, the rpm shoots upto 3000rpm and then after a minute or 2 it will go down to normal around 1000rpm? is this a problem or natural?

That is.... odd. Your warm idle should be 660 ± 50 rev/min. Check your IACV, MAF and TPI. I would start with the MAF...

At 83K, when was it last tuned along with new 8mm wires? What have you checked so far?
If you can handle it, I would suggest you clean the t/body and the idle solenoid.

Last winter it was tuned and wires and plugs along with coil packs were replaced. Coil packs due to misfire on 1,3,5,7 cylinders. In Feb of this year, MAF was replaced due to codes popping up, i forgot what they were but my guy said to replace it and the codes havent been back. For as long as I can remember this has happened and it has been 3 yrs. also about 2 months ago all gaskets were replaced in the throttle body was cleaned. Would the idle solenoid have been included in that job? The TPI is the next thing on my list to replace. Any other ideas?

Also just curious would noice in the vents be related to anything. I was thinking it was the dampener but it kind of squeals and sounds like somebody put a bolt down a fan and its bouncing around, but once again, its only when its cold.
