Question High Mileage Preventive Maintenance

Hello everybody. I am new here so, please excuse me since I know someone else has already asked this question. I have a Disco I 97. I bought it a few years ago with 100K miles on it. It is reaching 150K. I have done all the fluids changes and greasing. In that time I have also replaced the starter, one window motor, steering ball joints, battery, brakes, cathalitic converter, flexible joint between the rear diff and the drive shaft, spark plugs. My car runs great. The issue is that every once in a while I take long trips and even though I would like to take the Disco I am nervous about breaking down far away. My question is: should I change the fuel pump? Any sensors? with that kind of mileage what is prone to fail? And, no, a new LR is not an option at the moment.
Thanks.

I would replace the 02 sensors to improve your performance, an engine flush, an induction cleaning, clean your t/body, replace your fuel filter and run a couple good cans of gas additive thru the tank over the next few fill ups.

Don't be worried about high mileage trips or anything like that. You're obviously taking great care of the truck, and if it continues this thing will give you relatively little problems even up to 300k or more miles.

Why would anyone suggest a new LR? Maybe a second one but not a new one. I also have a 97 and I have no problems with long trips in it. 2 days after I bought it, when I knew nothing about it, I did a 600 mile drive. I also have driven from Denver to Phoenix which was 1800 miles round trip, not including miles running around town.

I would change your O2 sensors like Mike suggested. Not really a reliability issue but will help performance and mileage. Have your head gaskets been replaced? If not you have been very fortunate that they lasted this long and you may want to look into replacing them. Has your Disco ever given you a reason to worry about breaking down on the side of the road or are you spooked by the mileage? With the kind of care it's apparent you have given your Disco the mileage should not be an issue. Taken care of these truck will run forever.

I judge reliability by how often a vehicle leaves me stranded. The more times I get stranded the worse I consider the reliability, obviously. So far my Rover has never left me stranded so it has a perfect reliability rating. It even made it through the first blizzard to hit the midwest with no problem.

Thanks guys. You sure make me feel more confident. My Disco has never let me stranded anywhere. The day that the starter failed it did it at home, like it should, hehe. That is how good it is. I will replace the O2 sensors as suggested. I am surprised about you mentioning the head gaskets. I thought they only fail because of over heating or poor quality/lack of coolant.
Thanks again.
