Hi All
I am contemplating a 99 Disco with over 139K that includes ACE. Now I am wondering with such high miles what the norm length of a tranny would be with supposedly highway miles. Also with such high miles what am I looking at on the ACE (does it have a compressor similar to the RR?). Anyhow, there are no guarantees which make sit a challenge but I wanted to have some semblance of a good decision. I love the fact the car does have the ACE with the 18 wheels...
Thanks for any feedback! I am ready for some heavy ski outings come up as I cannot wait to jump into my Disco.
Thanks
CL

Charlie,
The trans is ZF ( German ) and quite robust. However, 140K is A lot of miles. In my opinion average trans life is 120K.
The ACE system is hydraulic. The pump life tends to be 60K. The rest of the system tends to be problem free. The only exception being the valve block.
Disco's are well above the rest as far as off road performance.

Thanks Bait. I have reconsidered this. In fact. I am looking to bite the bullet abit aand go with a 2003 Disco with 60K for about 18000. its been fully serviced. I think I want to stick the redesigned engine and more sound improvements. I also think this engine may be able to squeeze 150K on miles. I hope to land the vehicle tomorrow.
