There is no chance of that, they are required to use the same system of selecting a gas octane as the US auto makers are whoch is regulated by the Feds.

even if that is true, there are different emissions equipment on the trucks. I can't believe this topic always gets this much attention. 91 is the minimum in the manual for NAS trucks. Use 91 or higher, or get bad MPG and kill your motor. If you don't want to run premium, don't, but you will know why your motor carboned up......

Incorrect.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

Our "87" would be rated as 91 or 92 in Europe. Their 95 would be somewhere around our 89 or 91.

Bottom line, if you are too cheap to take care of your truck, you shouldn't have it anyways. Might want to consider a Ford Escort or VW.

That's a fine opinion, and as previously stated, I wouldn't run on regular normally, because obviously the truck needs premium because of the carbon issues. I run premium on my lawnmower, because it needs it, and my bike, the Seadoo, and my track car.

I just wanted to get an understanding of the care and feeding of a Disco, and while I was at it, dispell a few myths about octane, etc.

Yeah what's wrong with VW? Oh that's right, my daughter's 1971 VW Bus runs wonderful on premium (and no black on the chrome tail pipes either). Oh that's right her original owners manual recommends premium, imagine that.
