Default Hit 100k yesterday!!!

So I hit 100,000 miles on the Disco yesterday.

And guess what? The "service engine soon" light came on today - LOL. I parked the truck and came back 20 min later fired it up and it was off. Drove it twice since and no light?

What do you guys think that was?

Thanks the first time it has come on and I have put almost 20,000 miles on this truck so far.

It was your disco's way of celebrating.
Dont worry about it unless it comes on again, then go get the codes.

If you can't find an auto parts store that will read them for free, then it is time to buy an inexpensive scanner.
Remember when the light is off, you can't read the codes.

Is there a scanner you recommend for the DIsco2?

After you read the codes, figure out what needs repaired, and fix it. Do you just unplug the battery and touch the wires together to reset the computer?

Thanks Mike-

Its called an OBDII scanner, its the only scanner that will work for vehicles made after 1996. They are 100% generic and work for all vehicle makes. If you have a store like Harbor Freight you can find them for $25-$50. Some cost up to and over $100, but all you need is a simple cheap one. Also, like mike said, many auto parts stores will read them for free.

The OBDII scanner will clear the codes at a touch of a button. Just be sure you fix the problem if it serious because the light will come right back on after a while if the problem is not solved. Sometimes its as simple as a loose gas cap, sometimes its much deeper. I think its a great tool to have if you own a disco.

Picking up one Monday and next weekend I am starting Disco Mike's 60k service. I think I can do it all for under $400. I already got the plugs, so there is $50 saved.
