Default Hit n run update, tires, and CDL question!!

They got the lady that did the hit and run on my 00 disco. apparently shes not only ancient, but nuts and an alchy aswell. She hit a car the next day and then later admited that **** might have hit something the day before... enough though that I could compare the broken pieces of her car that were by my disco to confirm it was her. So her insurance co is going to provide a rental, bringing it to a body shop tomorrow to get the estimate.

I did however, go ahead and order Treadwrites Guard Dog's in 285/75R16!! I can't wait to get them on, the gap looks goofy with the stock tires on the 3" terrafirma lift which was more like 3.5-4" it seems over where it was with the old suspnsion components!

Lastly, I have a CDL in there now, I was just curious, what are the guidelines to locking it? Any speed conditions or xfercase/tranny positions before enguaging the lock? I know the hi/lo is 0-5, tranny in neutral, but i don't think snow will require lo gear around here anytime. Also, when there is snow on the roads, do you drive around locked hi, or just lock it if you get stuck or approach a known trouble spot like a hill or unplowed road? I've never owned a 4x4 before if that isnt obvious already

Pretty much just be going straight, and don't have the tires spinning when locking the CDL.

3 to 5 MPH.
You know your mileages is going to drop by 3.5 plus miles per gallon and your low end will be gone. Are you planning on lockers and gears, cause you will need them, the stock diffs can't handle that big a tire when playing hard off road, you will blow out your spider gears.

you wont need to lock the cdl if your traction control is working you will be fine all winter unless you start plowing thru snow drifts.

Only use the CDL when the roads are ice covered or you are driving in a blizzard.

Welllll I don't have them on yet, I just ordered them I'll find out in a week or so I guess haha!

So far just the lift kit, but from what I've gathere probably have to dremel out a half inch or so of the front wheel well plastics (hopefully no body panel) and probably adjust the bump stops to keep from accidently shredding the tires while turning tight.

After they are mounted on there I promis to take pictures before/after and during any modding that I'll end up doing to the plastics for clearance issues. I HOPE i dont have to touch the aluminum, but perhaps I can fold it back nicely if necessary...I plan one of those hi entry angle clearance winch bumpers down the line anyway, so I don't mind if I hack it to bad lol.

went to the body shop today for initial estimates on the repairs, he said he wont be done until monday with the details on whats required, but guesses that hes going to replace both body panels completely, apparently there is bondo right where it got hit, so this has happened before apparently haha. hopefully it wont take long to fix up and be pretty again...ill have them mounted after as long as I have enough money left over from xmas shopping!
