Homelink
I've tried multiple times to program my Homelink to operate my garage door and it won't accept the rolling code. I've tried everything in the book and everything I can think of with no luck.
Anyone else run into this problem? Anyone know how to correct it? I'm sure a new Homelink unit would fix it but I don't want to go that route right now. I can deal with a lot of inconvenience to avoid spending more money right now.

Have you tried your homelink on a buddy's garage that doesn't have the rolling code? I guess first thing to do is to make sure your Homelink transmitter is in fact working properly.
I have the rolling code on my opener as well, and after syncing the handheld to the Homelink I still have to push a button on the garage door opener itself and then activate the homelink within 30 seconds to register it with the garage door opener. On mine, when done properly, the garage light then flashes and it works!
I'd bet you're doing everything right with the homelink but have to push a button on the opener itself to finish programming them to work together.
Hope this helps!

I just programmed mine yesterday. Program the Homelink with your handheld remote like it says in the instructions. After you've done this, the light on the homelink should flash rapidly when you press the button you are trying to program. Go to the garage door unit (the one that physically opens your garage door) and find the "learn" button. Press the button for 1 or 2 seconds till you see a red light come on. Now go back to your Homelink unit and press the button you are trying to program until the light stops flashing rapidly. It should now be programmed for your garage door opener. Note that you may have to re-program your handheld remotes if you still want to use them- just push the "learn" button again, aim the handheld remote at the unit and press the button. Hope this works for you!
On my '97 we couldn't get the Homelink to work. We read somewhere that the Disco I wouldn't recognize rolling codes so I got a Homelink from a Series II from a junkyard and it programmed immediately. Not sure if it was just coincedence or not but that fixed my problem.
My opener does have rolling code. When I go to program it with the handheld it acts like it takes the code but when I move to the next step and sync it to the opener the light stays solid rather than flashing to indicate the rolling code.
I can probably program my garage door but the manual says take the "handheld transmitter and hold it close to the in dash..." but I just bought this 1999 discovery II and it doesn't have the handheld. When I moved into the house there was a clip-on already programmed remote ready for it and it works but I want to use the Discovery opener. Will any handheld transmitter work? Do I really need one?
