Default Hood latch

So I’ve had my rover for a couple months now and let my girlfriend borrow it while her car is in the shop. I get a text saying the hood unhinged while she was driving. It did not pop up thank goodness.

I inspected the hood when I got home and tried to make it unhinge by force (just prying on the hood) but it stayed locked in place.

Just now I got another text saying it popped up again while on the highway.

Anyone have any idea what could be going on?

She's pulling the latch (or your leg)?

It may take the force of road bumps to disturb it.

First time she borrows it and she breaks it...

i drove it the same day for about 50 miles on the highway and didn’t have any issues she goes 3 exits down the highway and it pops open TWICE!

anyone know if there’s some type of jeep style or after market secondary safety latch I can instal?

“Cant live with her but deff can’t live with out her”

Check you mood mounting bolts before replacing the latch. I had mine misaligned after taking the hood off and while the hood closed and felt tight it popped open after a little driving. Quick realignment and good to go

I’ll do that... had the hood off a few weeks ago while installing a new windshield cowl.

Lube the area up with some light oil, mine got really dry after some dirt roads and would pop up because the mechanism was all gummed up and dry. Sprayed it down with some lube and worked perfectly.
