What kind of tool is used to install the Land Rover factory installed hose-clips?

I always replace them with whatever is readily available at the local parts store because I can't figure out how to reuse them etc.

I can see how they are handy for tight spots etc... I replaced a large one with a screw/worm drive hose clamp and the screw is about a 1/4 inch from the serpentine belt etc.

I found the part number for the hose-clip that secures the low pressure PAS hose to the PAS reservoir: QYC100240

I also uploaded a pic of one I removed.

Does anyone what type of tool is used for these types of hose clips?

I use a flat head screwdriver to remove and needle nose pliers to install.

 

NAPA used to sell a special crimping tool for use with "Oetiker" style clamps that works quite nicely.

 

Buy this, it's amazing.

 

I agree but a tad pricey. I use an old pair of pincers ............ far cheaper

Completely different parts! The ones I linked allow you to do it easily one handed and makes the thermostat job a 10 minute one

 

Does that tool nip up the factory fitted style clamps the OP is talking about? I can see how it would hold open the t stat style clamps, which I've always done with mole grips. I agree that will be great for that type of clamp in hard places, but not sure it's what the OP was looking for.

I also have a bunch of jubilee clips I'd love to replace with better looking items. Never have liked them.

 

Yes it does, the engagement end has 2 metal tabs at a 45 degree angle that compress at the bottom, they work great with this style clip

 

Ooh. Then I might invest. T stat coming up.

And if it was a dual purpose hose clip tool thingy, more to the good.

I take the small ones off like in the op's picture with needle nose and snap them back with the same.

The big ones on the coolant hoses, I take those off and put on the good stainless ones that oreilly carries (below). Easier to work with in a pinch like if you don't have a special tool with you. They are kinda pricey but will last forever.

But the special tool is handy when working on one that still has the old spring clamps.
