Default How big can I go on stock rims?

Hi everyone:

Just had a quick question. I have a 2000 Disco II and wanted to put on some bigger tires. I want to keep the factory alloys and was wondering how much bigger I can go while using the same wheels. And any ideas on the brand would also be helpful. I have attached a pic of my car.
Thanks in advance.

PH

PH,
Which wheel do you have 16" or 18" wheels?
What are you going to do with the truck, are you going to add a bumper or winch?
How much taller do you want to be, are you arware that bigger tires will cost you up to 2 MPG?

Hi Mike:

It's the 16 inch wheels. I don't plan on doing any more mods on it except maybe add some roof racks.

I figure the MPG's will go down so I have no problem with that. I need to replace the tires, tread is almost gone, and would like to just go a little bigger.

Thanks for your fast relpy.

Do you have any plans for 4wheeling or is it more for street use?
I think the ideal size for a DII is a 245/75/16. Taller the standard, look real good on the truck and you usually have no triming or adjustment to make

245's are a great size for a D1 and require no triming or lift. They are probably the most common size for all geneal use D1's. What brand or tread style are you leaning towards?

biggest tire on stock disco w/ no trimming:

D1 = 245/70-16

D2 = 265/75-16 (may get a bit of rub in some big dips)

265/75-16 on a DII may require the spare tire rack to be raised. I found that out this weekend.
